Imagine writing a letter to a group of people you have never met with the hope they will place their confidence in your message and instruction over the messages over those who have who have been surrounding them and filling their heads with new and strange ideas. Imagine further that both truth and eternal matters were on the line! Now, you have a picture of the task set before the Apostle Paul as he wrote the Christians in ancient Colossae pleading with them to stand up against creative and clever false teaching.
