When encountering pain and hardships, the tendency for most of us is to turn in ward as we attempt to deal with that which feels all-consuming. In these moments of self-focus, it can feel like there is no end in sight, no light at the end of the tunnel. But, Christ and others have shown us that there is a way to pass through these trials without without getting lost in ourselves. In fact, there is a joy to be found if we can only look and love beyond our pain.
