Part 3: Engaged
Politics at Church!? That's right and perhaps long overdue. American politics has reached an all time fever-pitch with a very important election just weeks away. The issues and stakes have never been higher and the options never more polarizing. Red or Blue, people have never been more vocal and passionate about their views and the political figures that reflect or repel them. Each day our mail box is stuffed with candidates hurling accusations against their opponents, and each political TV commercial negates the previous. As Christ followers, where should we land in all of this? Should I be enraged? How should I be engaged? Does the passionate argument win the day? Am I too emotional about it all? Do I have all the facts? Can hearts and minds ever be changed? How do I vote? Is there any hope for our nation?
These are just a few of the questions that we wrestle with as Americans and as Christians. During this series we'll explore the Biblical response to this politically charged setting, uncover a real action plan for making a true difference, and most importantly - learn how to love and respond to those around us with differing views. We may even just find that we have been Politically Charged with much more than arguing and voting.
