This dictionary defines the word faithful as 1. strict or thorough in the performance of duty 2. true to one's word, promises, vows, etc. 3. steady in allegiance or affection; loyal; constant 3. reliable, trusted, or believed and 4. adhering or true to fact, a standard, or an original. The perfect example of faithfulness is found in Jesus and his faithfulness to His Father and to us - the beneficiaries of His faithfulness.

Scripture beautifully illustrates both the virtue and value of faithfulness. However, our culture downplays - even mocks the concept of faithfulness in most areas of life. The pursuit of the 'American Dream' itself plays into the demise of faithfulness as we are compelled to approach all things and people with a attitude of consumerism, which motivates the constant shedding of faithfulness in pursuit of 'happiness'.
