Nothing Else Matters
If there’s one message I hope sticks with you from this week’s sermon, it’s this: nothing—absolutely nothing—can separate you from the love of Christ.
Romans 8:31–39 is a triumphant conclusion to one of the most hope-filled chapters in the entire Bible. It’s Paul’s mic-drop moment. After laying out the good news of justification by faith, the assurance we have in Christ, and the Spirit’s ongoing work in our lives, Paul asks a piercing question: What, then, shall we say in response to these things?
He’s not just inviting reflection. He’s anchoring our souls.
If God is for us, who can be against us?
He reminds us that the God who didn’t spare His own Son is not holding back on anything good. He confronts our fears of condemnation with the truth that Jesus is not only risen—but He’s interceding for us right now. And then he delivers the knockout punch: not tribulation, persecution, famine, danger, death—nothing in all creation—can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus.
This isn’t poetic sentiment. It’s rock-solid truth.
We don’t live in a world that makes this easy to believe. We face real trials. We carry real wounds. But Romans 8 doesn’t ignore suffering—it embraces it with victory. Paul isn’t telling us we won’t struggle. He’s telling us we’ll never be alone.
Whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord (Romans 14:8–9). That’s security. That’s peace. And that’s the kind of truth that changes how we face everything from daily anxieties to life’s biggest storms.
So church, hold on to this: You are loved. You are secure. And nothing—no power, no mistake, no hardship—can take that away.
Nothing else matters.
