The Posture That Changes Everything

There’s something magnetic about a child’s open hands. They’re eager to help, quick to reach up, and ready to receive. That same posture is exactly what Jesus points to when He tells us, “unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 18:3).

In this week’s message, we kicked off our Childlike Faith series by exploring what it looks like to approach God with humility and expectancy. Childlike faith isn’t immature—it’s honest, dependent, and ready. Children don’t come to the dinner table having earned their meal. They show up expecting love, provision, and grace. And in many ways, that’s how our Father wants us to come to Him.

We looked at the story of the disciples rebuking children (Luke 18:15–17), and Jesus’s firm correction: “Let the little children come to me.” That passage reminded us that receiving from God isn’t about status, maturity, or performance—it’s about posture.

The truth is, many of us carry closed fists—clutching identity, control, pain, or even our sense of what we’ve earned. But life in the Kingdom begins when we surrender our grip. When we come open-handed and ready-hearted, God meets us there. He fills what we empty. He leads where we loosen our control.

So this week, let’s ask: What am I holding on to that needs to be placed in God’s hands?

Where is He inviting me to serve or to receive?

Let’s lead the way in living a life that is not childish, but full of childlike wonder, trust, and surrender.
