Faith Alone: Abraham's Story, Our Story

Faith Alone: Abraham’s Story, Our Story

What does it take to be made right with God? That’s the question Paul addresses in Romans 4, and it’s just as relevant today as it was in the first century.

Many of us feel that tension. We try to be good. We try to follow the rules. We hope we’ve done enough. But Romans 4 reminds us that our relationship with God has never depended on how well we perform. Instead, it has always depended on whether we trust Him.

Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. Not because of what he did—but because of who he trusted. That’s the message Paul drives home as he walks us through Abraham’s story: salvation has always been by faith alone.

Paul’s words cut through our religious confusion. Righteousness isn’t earned by our works, our rituals, or our spiritual pedigree. It’s received by faith in the God who keeps His promises—the same God who raised Jesus from the dead.

What I love about Abraham’s story is that it’s not just inspirational—it’s deeply personal. Paul says it was written for our benefit. Just like Abraham, we’re invited to believe in the God who creates new life, even when hope seems gone.

That kind of faith doesn’t ignore reality. It trusts God in the middle of it.

So if you’ve been trying to earn your way to God, I hope this message offers you freedom.
And if your faith feels weary, I hope you’re reminded that God is always faithful—and He always keeps His promises.

Let’s be a people marked by faith. Not because it’s easy. But because God is worth trusting.
