Fearless and Free
This past Sunday, we explored what it means to live out childlike faith—especially when faced with fear, uncertainty, or risk. The message, titled “Fearless & Free,” reminded us that children don’t leap because they’re brave—they leap because they trust someone will catch them.
That image stuck with me all week.
When Jesus told the disciples in Matthew 18:3 that they had to change and become like little children to enter the Kingdom, He wasn’t inviting us into immaturity. He was calling us to embrace the same posture children have: humility, openness, and deep trust.
We saw this illustrated in Peter’s bold moment on the water. He didn’t wait for certainty. He simply heard Jesus say, “Come,” and he stepped out of the boat. That’s what fearless faith looks like—not absence of fear, but presence of trust.
We also looked at Joshua’s calling to be strong and courageous. Interestingly, God didn’t ask him to feel strong. He commanded him to be strong—because courage in the Kingdom isn’t about self-confidence, it’s about confidence in God’s presence.
Finally, we talked about freedom—not the kind celebrated with fireworks, but the freedom that comes from surrender. In Galatians 5:1, Paul writes that it’s for freedom that Christ has set us free. True freedom isn’t found in autonomy or control—it’s found in letting go and trusting the One who holds it all together.
My hope is that this message reminds you that you don’t have to be perfect to be bold. You don’t need to have all the answers to say yes. When your eyes are fixed on Jesus, and your heart is open to trust Him, you can live fearless and free.
Let’s walk it out—together.
